Refugee Assistance Alliance (RAA) is pleased to host Love Wins! An exclusive Taste of Syria event featuring a screening of the documentary, Soufra, the inspirational story of a woman’s journey in a refugee camp south of Beirut, Lebanon. The first screening was held at the Vatican in December, with the launch of Breaking Bread, a new initiative designed to foster a culture of empathy and acceptance. RAA is honored to be first to host this event outside the Vatican! The film follows Mariam and fellow refugee women as they launch a catering company, which helps them heal the wounds of war through the unifying power of food. The evening will begin with dinner prepared by our own Syrian hosts, followed by the movie, which has been lauded by New York Times as “A stirring tale of empowerment…” After the meal, we will host an interfaith dialogue. RAA’s Taste of Syria fundraisers are a testament to how a community can come together to help those in need. Through your donations, we provide English language tutoring for families struggling to find employment and adjust to life in our community. We hope you’ll join us for Love Wins!
